New Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Viewing Location

4/30/2021

From May 4 through May 21, the Sentinels from the 3d Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) will modify their watch and stand guard on the east side of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (TUS). Visitors will still be able to see the changing of the guard ceremony from the bottom of the steps on the mall instead of the Memorial Amphitheater steps.

Due to a short-term preservation project with the granite pavers surrounding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) is temporarily closing the TUS plaza.

Throughout the year, ANC is commemorating the centennial anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Restoration and preservation work continues at Memorial Amphitheater and the Tomb plaza to ensure that the heart of the cemetery remains an iconic symbol of service, sacrifice and mourning.

The changing of the guard ceremony will continue to take place at the top and bottom of every hour.
