Fall Arboretum Walking Tours

Below is the schedule for Arlington National Cemetery's Fall Arboretum Walking Tours. All tours will meet at the ANC Welcome Center Information Desk.

Wear sturdy shoes and consider bringing a bottle of water. All tours are open to the public. We hope you can make it to one or more! Tours may be cancelled due to inclement weather.


Memorial Arboretum Fall Rain Garden Tour

Friday, October 14, 2022, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Join Arlington’s environmental specialist and horticulturist for a look at the cemetery’s rain gardens and other practices that the cemetery uses to help manage storm water.

Learn how rain gardens function, which plants succeed and the lessons we’ve learned. Explore some of the native plants and sustainability and design practices in place at the cemetery.


Memorial Arboretum Walking Tour

Friday October 21, 2022, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Come see the trees of Arlington National Cemetery at the peak of their autumn splendor! The vibrant reds, oranges, yellows and russets of over 300 species of trees at ANC are a must-see for anyone visiting in the autumn.

On this tour, you will learn about the cemetery's Memorial Arboretum, a Level III Accredited Arboretum. You'll gain insight into ANC's urban forestry program, extensive tree collection and State Champion trees. The overall horticulture program, and the variety of techniques used to create some of the most breathtaking formal and informal landscapes and gardens, will also be highlighted.


Memorial Arboretum Plant Tour

Join Arlington’s horticulturist for a look at the cemetery’s niche wall landscape beds and columbarium courts — each a unique landscape design unto its own. 

Learn which plants thrive and which ones need more maintenance, and see what you can incorporate into your own landscape. These landscapes are full of both native and non-native plants.


Arlington National Cemetery Fall Colors Tour

Come join ANC’s horticulturist and urban forester for a walking tour to see the plants of Arlington National Cemetery at the peak of their autumn splendor! The vibrant reds, oranges, yellows and russets of over 500 species of trees, shrubs and perennials at ANC are a must-see for anyone visiting in the autumn. On this tour, you will learn about the cemetery's Memorial Arboretum and various landscapes and gardens. You'll gain insight into ANC's urban forestry and horticulture programs, and extensive tree, shrub and perennial collections. The variety of techniques used to create some of the most breathtaking formal and informal landscapes and gardens will also be highlighted.
