Beginning Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) will be flushing all fire hydrants in its water distribution system, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Flushing the water distribution system will expel stagnant water and sediment, ensuring that ANC’s water is clean, clear and pressurized. This process protects the quality of drinking water before it gets to sinks, sprinklers or water fountains.
What does this mean for visitors and staff?
• Please do not use any drinking fountains or water pumps that have a “Hydrant Flushing” sign.
• Temporarily, water may be discolored, and water pressure may be lower than normal.
ANC appreciates your patience and understanding as we undertake this necessary work to maintain water quality for all persons at the cemetery. We apologize for any inconvenience.
