On Friday, July 4, numerous road and site closures around Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) will impact visitors and family pass holders. Drivers should expect significant delays in the ANC area, particularly leading up to and after the fireworks display.
► The Air Force Memorial will be closed to the public, following guidance from the Air Force District of Washington.
► The following road closures and traffic delays will impact vehicular access to Arlington National Cemetery. (See below for a map.)
Road Closures, 6 a.m.—11:30 p.m.
• Memorial Bridge / Memorial Circle
• George Washington Parkway from I-395 South to Memorial Avenue
• Exit from George Washington Parkway to Memorial Avenue
• Exit from Route 110 North toward Memorial Bridge via Memorial Avenue. NOTE: Memorial Avenue toward Arlington National Cemetery remains open.
• Exit from Washington Boulevard to Memorial Avenue
• Access to Arlington National Cemetery remains open via Memorial Avenue from Route 110 North.
• Drivers approaching from the south should take I-395 North to 110 North.
• Those approaching from the west should take I-66 East to I-495 South, and then I-395 North, to reach Route 110 North and Memorial Avenue.
We highly encourage visitors to use the Metro during this timeframe:
• Arlington Cemetery station (Blue line): A short walk to/from the Welcome Center.
• Rosslyn station (Blue, Orange, Silver lines): Approximately a 15-minute walk to the Ord and Weitzel pedestrian gate at the cemetery's north end, near the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial.
Additional Road Closures, 4:30 p.m.-—11:00 p.m.
• Marshall Drive, from Route 110 to North Meade Street
• North Meade Street, from Marshall Drive to N. Fairfax Drive
• Exit ramp from westbound Route 50 to North Lynn Street (Rosslyn exit)
• Exit ramp from eastbound Route 50 to North Meade Street (Rosslyn exit)
• Eastbound North Fairfax Drive, from North Pierce Street to North Fort Myer Drive
• Ord and Weitzel Gate will be open to pedestrians only.
In the interest of public safety, additional road closures may be implemented at police discretion.
