ARLINGTON, VA – To ensure the safety of its visitors and employees, certain speed limits have been adjusted and posted inside Arlington National Cemetery, which will impact some visitors driving on the grounds.
Effective immediately, due to the physical conditions of the roadway, the speed limit on Schley Drive, commonly referred to as “Yellow Line Drive,” -- which begins when you make a right from the main entrance (Memorial Ave.) and ends at the Old Post Chapel Gate -- will change from 25 mph to 15 mph.
Additionally, while the speed limit for all other roads within the cemetery will remain at 25 mph, all coach-style buses and large commercial vehicles must maintain a 15 mph speed limit throughout the cemetery.
Motorists are reminded that when passing pedestrians, the speed limit is reduced to 10 mph.
We are asking our guests to remain vigilant when driving on the cemetery grounds and follow speed signage displayed throughout the cemetery.
