Virtual Teacher Workshop, Jan. 17: Making Connections—Portraiture and Memorial

1/8/2024

On Wednesday, Jan. 17 from 5 p.m to 6 p.m. (EST), join Arlington National Cemetery and the National Portrait Gallery in examining connections between the exhibition “1898: U.S. Imperial Visions and Revisions.” The exhibition examines the U.S. intervention in Cuba and U.S. expansion into Guam, Hawai'i, Puerto Rico and the Philippines, as well as selected memorials, graves and sites within the cemetery related to this controversial chapter in history. Consider the roles of memorials, monuments, cemeteries and portraits in sharing stories, and how they may impact perceptions of these historic events.
