Webinar: Commemorating the Pioneering Nurses of the Spanish-American War at Arlington National Cemetery

4/1/2024

On Apr. 15, 2024 at 7 p.m. EST, the Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) History Office will participate in a webinar hosted by the Army Nurse Corps Association—“Commemorating the Pioneering Nurses of the Spanish-American War at Arlington National Cemetery.”

This webinar will trace the history of the women who worked as civilian contract nurses for the Army during the Spanish-American War. Due to their successful service, Congress passed legislation in 1901 to create the U.S. Army Nurse Corps. Many of these women are buried and memorialized at ANC. This webinar will explore the history of their service and take participants on a virtual tour of their graves and memorials at ANC.

This event will take place via Zoom. For more information, and to register, click here.
