Arlington National Cemetery will be open if the federal government shuts down

9/30/2013
Arlington National Cemetery remains operational for interment operations and will be open to the general public in the event of a lapse in appropriations for much of the federal government.  However, the National Park Service plans to curtail operations.  At Arlington National Cemetery, the Arlington House will be closed for the duration of the government shutdown, and the Martz Tour tram service managed by the National Park Service will be temporarily suspended.  Arlington National Cemetery will be open as usual for pedestrian access, and we strive to accommodate vehicular access to visitors with disabilities and physical limitations.  Drivers may apply for a temporary vehicular access pass at the visitor's desk in the Welcome Center lobby.
