Special Guided Walking Tour of Arlington National Cemetery's first rain garden

9/20/2013

ARLINGTON, Va. -- Arlington National Cemetery's horticulturist Kelly Wilson will host a guided walking tour to teach you how Arlington has transformed its employee parking lot from merely a group of parking spaces into a haven for finches and hummingbirds through the creation of its first rain garden using diversified, native perennials.

The tour will take place on Friday, Oct. 11 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.

The tour will take place in the south end of the cemetery near its service complex. Participants are asked to drive their own vehicle or carpool and meet on Memorial Avenue by 8:45 a.m. We will “caravan” to the location within the cemetery. The cemetery cannot provide transportation so please ensure you have a vehicle or can ride with someone. Metro to the Pentagon is also an option, please call if you require more information about this.

The tour is free-of-charge, but reservations are required. Please call (703) 614-1091 or register online at http://www.arlingtoncemetery.mil/Events/Calendar.aspx by Oct. 10.
