In coordination with the military services, ANC is modifying funeral operations to ensure the protection and health of the public, of the service members who perform military honors and of the ANC workforce, so as to maintain operational readiness.

Arlington National Cemetery Welcomes New Superintendent

ARLINGTON, VA – Arlington National Cemetery welcomes new Superintendent Charles “Ray” Alexander, Jr.  Mr. Alexander is coming to the cemetery from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), where he served as the director of Contingency Operations and chief of the Office of Homeland Security at Headquarters USACE.

Speed limit adjustment within Arlington National Cemetery

To ensure the safety of its visitors and employees, certain speed limits have been adjusted and posted inside Arlington National Cemetery, which will impact some visitors driving on the grounds.


ANC's increased security still in effect

January 29, 2020

Effective immediately, all visitors 16 years of age and older (pedestrians, drivers and passengers) must present a valid photo identification upon entering the cemetery. Visitors include all funeral attendees, tourists and personnel on official business. School group leaders and tour guides must also present the required identification. Original documentation is required. Paper copies or cell phone photos of identification are not accepted. ​


Arlington National Cemetery to participate in Federal Highway Administration ANC Defense Access Roads public hearing and information session

Arlington National Cemetery will participate in a public hearing and information session hosted by the Federal Highway Administration on the Arlington National Cemetery Southern Expansion (ANCSE) Defense Access Road (DAR) Project.  The hearing will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Pentagon City located at 900 South Orme St. in Arlington, Virginia.
