For First Time in Nearly 100 Years, Public Authorized to Approach Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Plaza

ARLINGTON, Va. — For the first time in nearly 100 years, and as part of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Centennial Commemoration, the public will be able to walk on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Plaza and lay flowers in front of the Tomb on Nov. 9 and 10, 2021.

Alternate Traffic Patterns in Effect on May 18

On Tuesday, May 18th, beginning at 8:00 a.m., Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) is temporarily adjusting traffic patterns entering the cemetery due to an event at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial. This modified pattern should end shortly after 10:00am.


New Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Viewing Location

April 30, 2021

From May 4 through May 21, the Sentinels from the 3d Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) will modify their watch and stand guard on the east side of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (TUS). Visitors will still be able to see the changing of the guard ceremony from the bottom of the steps on the mall instead of the Memorial Amphitheater steps.
