Arlington National Cemetery Closed on Inauguration Day, January 20th

Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) announces the cemetery and the parking garage will be closed to the public on Wednesday, January 20th, 2021.

ARLINGTON, VA – Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) will close from Thursday, January 7 through Saturday, January 9 in order to safely conduct the removal and recovery of approximately 267,000 wreaths which honored our nation’s heroes and their family members this past December.

Arlington National Cemetery Announces VIRTUAL National Wreath Day Event

ARLINGTON, VA – This year, Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) will hold its National Wreath Day event via Facebook Live on December 19, beginning at 9:00 a.m. The virtual event, featured on ANC’s Facebook page, will showcase the past week’s wreath placements. It will include vista views of gravesites decorated with wreaths, interesting historical facts about the cemetery, beautiful images from the week’s activities and live video of the final placement of wreaths inside the cemetery.


WAA Family Pass Holder Information: Update 12/16/2020

For the remainder of the week of December 16-19, Arlington National Cemetery will be closed to the general public. Family pass holders ONLY will be welcome to visit their loved one’s grave and to lay a personal wreath or floral tribute from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.


Wreaths Across America: Family Pass Holder Information

During the week of December 13-19, the cemetery will be closed to the general public. On Sunday, December 13, family pass holders ONLY will be welcomed to lay a Wreath Across America (WAA) wreath at their loved ones’ graves from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

ARLINGTON, VA – Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) and Wreaths Across America (WAA), along with our partners the U.S. Army Military District of Washington (MDW) and the 3d U.S. Infantry, “The Old Guard” (TOG), will safely lay and recover approximately 267,000 wreaths to honor our nation’s heroes and their family members this December.

Arlington National Cemetery maintains our commitment to honor the nation’s veterans that rest on these iconic grounds. In doing so, we are collaborating with Wreaths Across America to ensure placement of wreaths on every appropriate grave and marker, while providing the safest event possible. As soon as event participation details are final, we will make them available on our website, social media platforms and public news announcements.


McPherson Drive Closed Beginning October 15

October 15, 2020

McPherson Drive—a primary thoroughfare on the western side of the cemetery, parallel to Fort Myer—will be closed for necessary repairs beginning October 15. The closure is expected to last until the summer of 2021.
