The National Memorial Day Observance to honor America's fallen service members is scheduled for Monday, May 29 at Arlington National Cemetery. The Presidential Armed Forces Full Honors Wreath-Laying Ceremony will begin at 11 a.m., followed by an observance program in Arlington National Cemetery's Memorial Amphitheater.

"An Evening with Heroes and Voices," is a FREE, 90-minute outdoor musical extravaganza dedicated to those Americans, who wear uniforms of all types and have spent their lives helping and inspiring others through their actions. The concerts are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 20-22, at the Women In Military Service for America Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery.

Easter Sunrise Service to take place April 16

The annual Easter Sunrise Service, hosted by Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall Commander Col. Patrick M. Duggan, at Arlington National Cemetery's Memorial Amphitheater will take place April 16. Prelude music performed by The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own," will start at 6:15 a.m.







The non-denominational worship service will begin with a call to worship at 6:30 a.m. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Cemetery gates will open at 5 a.m.

The U.S. Army welcomed the newest member to its Senior Executive Service during an induction ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery March 2, 2017.

Katharine Kelley, superintendent, Arlington National Cemetery, took the oath of office during her SES pinning and induction ceremony, hosted by Karen Durham-Aguilera, executive director, Army National Military Cemeteries.

Traffic Advisory: 5K and 10K run to impact Memorial Bridge

The National Park Service (NPS), George Washington Memorial Parkway will close Arlington Memorial Bridge to vehicular traffic Sunday, March 5 from 6-11 a.m. The closure is in support of the Pacers “St. Pat’s Run” 5K and 10K event.

Scheduled Arlington National Cemetery Metro Station Closure Feb. 11-28

Visitors to Arlington National Cemetery who use the Metro will be affected by SafeTrack Surge 12. The maintenance will take place Feb. 11-28 on the Blue Line, with no trains running between the Rosslyn Station and Pentagon Station.  Arlington Cemetery Station will be closed, however, there will be a free shuttle service between the Pentagon and Arlington National Cemetery that drops off and picks up passengers adjacent to the Arlington Cemetery Station.

Arlington National Cemetery visitors have multiple travel options to visit the cemetery:

1) Use the free shuttle service between the Pentagon and Arlington National Cemetery.

2) Walk from the Rosslyn Metro Station to the Ord and Weitzle Gate adjacent to the Marine Corps War Memorial. (Approximately a .75 mile walk)

Today we remember Air Force Col. Donald Matthews (Feb. 22, 1919 – June 9, 1994) and U.S. Army 1st Lt. Rita Matthews (May 14, 1921 – April 27, 2011) whose love of country, service to others and love of one another sustained them through 50 years of marriage, nearly 30 years of combined military service and 10 duty stations.
