The Visitors Center at Arlington National Cemetery will be closed Christmas Day, Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011. The grounds of the cemetery will be open during the regular winter hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Arlington National Cemetery will soon begin construction on Columbarium Court No. 9. Beginning Monday, Dec. 19, pre-construction activities will begin with fencing the construction and staging sites causing the closure of York Drive between Nimitz and Patton drives. Wreaths Across America, Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011 Wreaths Across America is an annual event at Arlington National Cemetery where volunteers place Holiday wreaths at the grave markers of our fallen heroes within the Cemetery. The event occurs each year in December, and the wreaths remain in place until mid-January. This year, the Wreaths Across America event is bigger than in any previous year. Volunteers will lay more than 100,000 wreaths this year, which is more than three-times the number typically placed. To accommodate the parking requirements of the many volunteers for the event this year, Arlington National Cemetery will offer free parking at its parking lot and at the Navy Annex beginning at 7:15 a.m. and ending at 1:00 on the day of the event, Dec. 10, 2011.

Disabled/Handicapped Shuttle Service at Arlington Cemetery

Arlington National Cemetery will provide a free shuttle service for those with disabilities. The shuttle will run between the Visitors Center the JFK gravesite, the Memorial Amphitheater, and the Arlington House from 8:15am to 5:15pm.

National Observance Honors America's Veterans

The annual National Veterans Day Observance is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 11 at Arlington National Cemetery to honor all veterans who served and continue to serve in the military.
