Pentagon Group Burial Marker

The Pentagon Group Burial Marker, with the names of the 184 victims of the 9/11 terrorist attack who died at the Pentagon or aboard American Airlines flight 77

Section 64

On September 12, 2002, a funeral service was held in Memorial Amphitheater for the final remains of the 184 victims of the September 11, 2001 attack on the Pentagon. While the service honored all 184 victims, it offered special recognition of the five families who did not receive any recovered remains of their loved ones. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld offered words of condolence at the service, stating, "We remember your loss, our loss, our country's loss, and the loss of precious lives." Following the service, a group burial was held in Section 64. A five-sided granite group marker stands over the gravesite, bearing the names of all those who perished in the Pentagon or aboard American Airlines Flight 77.

The Pentagon Group Burial Marker is located off Patton Circle in Section 64 — in the southeastern part of the cemetery, closest to the Pentagon.
